Day of Caring

Twice a year Warrior’s Path State Park and Darrell’s Dream Boundless Playground host a “Day of Caring”. A work day is scheduled every Spring and Fall and its purpose is to maintain Darrell’s Dream Boundless Playground.

Each year Volunteers take up the monumental task of pressure washing all buildings, making repairs and maintenance to all equipment, signage and interactive exhibits, and more. In addition, landscaping, herb garden, rain garden, wildflower walk, and the entire complex’s grounds are maintained.

As you can imagine, this is a huge undertaking. In the Spring of 2014 a workforce of 159 people donated over 777 hours. At the current minimum wage of $7.25 that’s $5,633.25 just in man hours. It is very important to Friends of Warriors’ Path State Park and Tennessee State Parks that all volunteer hours are tracked as it demonstrated the community’s support for the park and how staff efforts are augmented. Hours can be tracked by printing the Day of Caring Timesheet below.
